Start our challenge to fight against torrent force, and to develop a high water detection including different measurements like damage forecast and control.

The story behind:

The headquarter of Deutsche Telekom is located close to the popular river Rhine. The Rhine is also well-known cause of the yearly floods and damages everywhere. But the Rhine is also well-monitored and the weather specialists and the government can do very detailed long-term forecasts in the meanwhile.

But another open urgent problem is, driven by the climate change, more and more  popping up. The little streams they all feeding rivers like Rhine. This little streams are more often extreme aggressive and dangerous in a different way.
Small steep fast-flowing streams and waters are out of control from time to time. Well-established standard monitoring of rivers are not adaptable here. Therefore it needs a specialized solution to prepare forecasts, to measure real-time and to come back into situation to react real-time and to start damage lowering activities.

Your mission:

Built, plan or scribble a solution which can measure high water (water quantity/level, speed, direction, power, …), combined with advanced analytics and evaluation (algorithmic). Of course specialized/optimized for torrent use. You have to take care for high water real-time evaluation, analysis and impact forecasts. Warning advices + triggers. Pattern identification. Combination with other sensor data (e.g. rain quantity, weather status) coming from somewhere else.

The aimed solution touches areas of smart metering, government control, public safety, weather services, private and business insurances, agriculture and of course environment protection.
